What makes the perfect Devonshire cream tea?

clotted cream hero

The secret to the perfect cream tea lies in the devilishly delicious clotted cream; a fact the Harvey family from Langage Farm, producers of Tesco Finest Clotted Cream, know well.

Humble beginnings
The Harvey family started producing clotted cream for friends and family over 30 years ago. Soon, they were supplying to the local pub and corner shop. Their attention to detail and quest for perfecting the smooth and creamy taste has now led to them becoming national suppliers of Tesco Finest Clotted Cream.

The secret to perfect clotted cream
Tesco Finest Clotted Cream is made from authentic Channel Island milk. All cows that graze at Langage Farm are pedigree Guernsey and Jersey Cows and produce 4,000 litres of milk a day. The milk is then used to make traditional Devonshire clotted cream with the skill and passion passed down through generations.

Paul Winterton, General Manager, Langage Farm says:
"We caramalise the fat within our milk to a specific percentage. This produces the nutty flavour and extra smooth texture to our special Devonshire clotted cream and we're really proud that it is now part of the Tesco Finest range."

World Record Devonshire Cream Tea
On the 19th May 2011 at The Devon Show, the folks at Langage Farm will be teaming up with  local Masterchef Richard Hunt to attempt to break the World Record for the Biggest Devonshire Cream Tea. The giant scone will measure 8foot in diameter and will use a whopping 120kgs of Tesco Finest Clotted Cream, produced by Langage Farm. The delicious record breaking treat will be served to a very lucky 3,000 people.
